About Us-Who is
Painted Quarter Ranch? |
I live in Ramona with my husband, Geran,
and my two boys Clayton (21) and Colton (18) Whitworth. I
personally have lived in Ramona since 1991 and Geran and I
have been married since December 1994. I was raised on a
ranch in Del Mar, Ca called Mount Carmel Ranch. My younger
days consisted of nothing but horses and more horses. I
groomed dogs since I was 17 1/2 and retired from that 3
years ago, 2004. Horses have always been in my life, I even
had a Shetland pony before I was born. My dad was a
farmer/cattleman so I have had lots of horse and cattle
experience. My mom would rise from the grave if I didn't
tell people that at one time my dad was " Lima Bean King of
San Diego County" LOL. When I was between 6 and 13 years
old, I did lots of riding, trail, gymkhana, helping dad run
the cattle and even quite a bit of breaking 2 year olds for
many different people. At about 14, I fell in love with
jumping. What an exhilarating feeling, so much control with
actually so little. I was so very fortunate that my dad
bought be a beautiful TB named Cristopher Robin, man could
he move and he thoroughly enjoyed jumping. He would have
won any English Pleasure class with no rider, if they would
have allowed it LOL. After about 3 years of jumping I faded
out and went back to fun riding. I realized while owning
Christopher, that I missed riding a horse that would do it
all, in a matter of speaking. Pond whopping on Friday after
school, bathe and get ready for a show on Sunday and back to
fun on Monday, working calves on Tuesday and from here I
think you get the gist of my frame of mind. For the past 15
years I have had horses but only was involved with my
children in Gymkhana for a couple years.
I recently acquired a herd of pretty well
bred horses and if you read "My
Inspiration" Page, many of them fit her qualities. I am
learning quite a bit of new information that has developed
over the past 15 or so years, but a Quarter Horse is still a
Quarter Horse. While starting this new venture any
constructive criticism or advice is always welcomed, in my
opinion that is how we learn and develop.
My goal is to breed very versatile horses
with kind and forgiving temperaments, the want of human
companionship and the desire to please us, good
conformation, athletic ability and if I am lucky some color.
We also own a small country gift shop in
Ramona called Ramona
Country Crafts. I do many different kinds of crafting.
My oldest son and husband are now attending Farrier School
here in Ramona, they are due to graduate January, 2008.
